Solid as Stone

When an artisan works with stone, mineral, gemstones and other suitably durable materials with the explicit purpose of creating finished products to be used in jewelry, then they are lapidaries.   There are three broad categories of lapidary arts, tumbling, cabochon cutting and faceting.  Most lapidary work is done using motorized equipment and resin or metal bonded diamond tooling until a polish is achieved.  As a jewelry designer, I search for unique, interesting and quality stones to use in jewelry either as focals or as colorful compliments to other jewelry components.

I offer USPS First Class Mail for FREE in the U.S.  If you are an international customer, please contact me for best shipping rates.  All payments are secure through PayPal, just click the buy button and you will be directed to the PayPal site to complete the transaction.

Gaspeite

This extremely rare bright green mineral is named for the place where it was first discovered, the Gaspe Peninsula, Canada.  The only other origin of this mineral in any abundance is Western Australia.  This very rare mineral may contain brownish patches which may give it a distinctive character.  There is no known folk lore associated with this mineral as it was fairly recently discovered in 1966.  It has been mentioned that the Aborigine’s used gaspeite to bring about good fortune.

Graduated nuggets of gaspeite accent a single focal stone measuring 1-1/8” by 1-3/4” to create an adjustable 17-19” necklace with gold-fill spacers, chain and clasp.

PRICE: $300.00

Dolomite Dinosaur Bone

Imagine wearing something such as a focal that lived more than 100-140 million years ago.  Only in recent times has dinosaur bone been utilized in jewelry, therefore, there is no real folk lore associated with wearing it.  Dinosaur bone is the result of fossilized bone from dinosaurs in which the cellular structure has been replaced with quartz, leaving the bone structure intact.

A dolomite dinosaur bone focal measuring 1 1/2” square is accentuated with carnelian beads cut in two different shapes; cylinders and ovals.  The necklace is adjustable 22” to 26” and is finished with gold filled chain and clasp.  Earrings measuring 1 ¼“ are included.

PRICE: $250.00

Oval wood beads and square cut tiger eye stone     accent a tiger eye focal measuring 1” by 1 1/3”.  The 24” necklace is finished with a complimentary gold filled chain and clasp.  Matching dangling earrings measuring 1 1/2” are included.
